1. States that are broadly speaking communist are in this category.

2. They don’t have free market economy and mostly have one party system.

3. They are totally adheres to the Socialism or some form of Marxist-Leninist ideology.

4. The abrupt downfall of soviet and eastern europe communism has depleted and decreased the usefulness of this categorization.

5. North korea and Vietnam still stick to this philosphy.

Exception

China has move foreward by introducing free market economy. But there is still one party system.

1. Countries of the Third World are those which remain outside of the first two categories. 2. The term le tiers monde - the Third World - was coined by a French demographer, Alfred Saubey in 1952. The concept of the third world was a typical product of the Cold War era. 3. It includes the oil rich countries like Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and Hongkong. They are developed countries. 4.In the most of the Third World, government structures and institution are generally weak, weather they are based on capitalist or socialist models.
